London Wedding, at All Saints Blackheath and Greenwich Park, with Tomoyo & David.
Another first for the Pixies as we ventured to the Big Smoke for our first London wedding and another of this years international flavour weddings. We met up with Tomoyo, David and their very cute son Henry earlier in the year whilst they were visiting their grandparents in Derby, now in London we were all reunited again and enjoyed a pre-wedding meal together with Tomoyo’s family from Japan in their favourite restaurant in Blackheath.
Everything all a bit back to front
The wedding was on Monday 16th of June, as this date is a lucky day in the Japanese calendar. As well as the unusual Monday wedding, the portrait sesh was to be before the wedding, actually Tomoyo and David had already been legally married earlier in the year – so didn’t mind seeing each other before their ceremony. Tomoyo got ready at The Mercure Hotel, Greenwich, in a very serene and calm environment with her Japanese bridesmaids very calmly dressing in their elaborate kimono’s. David and his best man (chauffeur for the day!) arrived at the hotel and promptly ordered breakfast, got to get your priorities right!!
Greenwich park wedding photography
So all ready and off we went, first stop Greenwich Park to take in the impressive views from the Royal Observatory and so much green too, who would have thought we were in London! The ceremony took place at All Saints church Blackheath, Tomoyo and David’s local church, a gorgeous little place right on the heath.
Japanese wedding kimono adds a splash of colour to the day :)
After the ceremony all the guests took the very short walk across the heath, to The Hare & Billet, transformed from local pub to quirky wedding breakfast space, complete with a keg of real ale and traditional dimple glass tankards :) Tomoyo arrived mid drinks reception transformed into her gorgeous kimono, very colourful! Later in the evening we ventured back to The Old Royal Naval College grounds of Greenwich, for some great shots taking in the dramatic iconic architecture. In just a few days time David and Tomoyo were off for a new life in Japan, so were very keen to have lots of photographs to remind them of all that their London life had given them.
Well, we loved our first London wedding, so maybe we’ll be back there again soon, there’s just so many places to take iconic British Wedding images, what’s not to like! For more city centre weddings check out this 2015 winter wedding in Manchester
