Manchester Tea Room wedding photography, with outdoor wedding ceremony.
July 2022 and the penultimate of our 2020 weddings! Hayley and Danny had planned for a July 2020 wedding at the Roman Lakes in Marple, a chilled out laid back outdoor wedding day. Well, two years later we finally got there – we all the know the 2020 story by now.
Having shot at The Roman Lakes before, we knew this would be our kind of wedding, nothing formal – just a celebration of two people witnessed by all their favourite friends and family in a gorgeous setting. Even better we had identical weather to last time we were there, wall to wall sunshine, obviously it’s always like this in Marple :)
Hollins House Hotel wedding prep and surprise transport.
Since their first choice hotel, was no longer a hotel, because of 2020 and all that a pandemic had brought, everyone was now getting ready in Bollington at Hollins House. Hayley had dismissed any last minute nerves with an early morning yoga session from one of her friends and now the girls were ready for the day ahead. Time to preen and shine! The boys didn’t scrub up too badly either.
Hayley’s dad had been left in charge of transport, we get the impression that he’s man who takes a task to heart and does it 110%. So the boys travelled in style in vintage open top car, parents in another vintage car – all credit to the car company for getting down the road to The Roman Lakes, which isn’t for the faint hearted or low suspension. For the pièce de résistance, Hayley’s dad had arranged a surprise helicopter flight for Hayley!!! Hayley was, well sort of, pleased, not a natural flyer Hayley managed to overcome her nerves and enjoy an epic flight around the Peak District before landing in style at The Roman Lakes.
Outdoor humanist wedding ceremony
Overlooking the lake, guests sat on hay bales, flowers decorating the archway and ducks going their merry way, time for the I do’s in the July sunshine. Finally these two had tied the knot, in the way they wanted – time to crack open the champagne. Cheers, amazing canapés, acoustic tunes, lawn games, duck feeding, sun, smiles – everything that they’d planned had come together perfectly. The Roman Lakes is one of the few places greater Manchester where you can get that truly secluded feel perfect for an outdoor wedding celebration, and all within easy reach of the city centre. Your guests could even get here by train, it’s about 25-30mins walk from Marple or Strines train stations.
Wedding street food – barbecue style
We go to a lot of weddings and see a lot of food. This food looked awesome! Rightly so, Hayley and Danny were self confessed foodies, so no doubt they’d done their research here. Flaming Gourmand from Knutsford, we’d highly recommend them whole heartedly – I’m veggie (Sara), so can’t vouch for the meaty stuff, but the salads and those mushrooms they not only looked fabulous but tasted so good too. (I know we don’t normally have any wedding breakfast food, but this was buffet style and there was so much left over, it was irresistible). Not only that, the tea room setting was stunning too, perfect for this relaxed vibe, yet still special and with that rustic twist that these guys were looking for.
Manchester Tea room wedding, summer wedding photography
After all the food, time for guests to chill out again and us to have a shot wander in the grounds of The Roman Lakes for some natural couple pics. The Roman Lakes is really the most idyllic spot for a summer wedding like this, so many places just to stop and take the scenery in, whilst we snapped away and Jo, on video, captured those moments in motion too. No time to linger, time for beer pong. The longest beer pong table ever, meant the longest game of wedding beer pong ever. In fact I think the end never really came with that last cup being the ever elusive goal for someone to hit. Into the night, partying with the band rocking the dance floor, more sumptuous food from ??? with loaded fries in a more street food vibe. Sunsetting in the lake as we left and plenty of happy guests, bellys and hearts full from a picture perfect outdoor wedding day to remember.
Congrats to Hayley & Danny on a picture perfect Manchester outdoor chilled out summers day wedding, finally!
