Roman Lakes Wedding Photography
Laura & Simon had decided that their home town of Marple was the perfect setting for their outdoor wedding ceremony and celebrations. Where better to hold your day than a favourite haunt which means something to both of you. When that place is the Roman Lakes then you’ve definitely landed on your feet. Planning started with just the two of them in mind but a surprise new addition made the day a family affair with baby Luca as the third star of the show :)
Outdoor wedding ceremony
Simon & Laura had lady luck on their side with 2019’s August’s very wet and chilly theme coming to a halt just in time for their wedding weekend. The stage was set for a gorgeous rustic outdoor ceremony over looking the lake. Simon’s dad and sister officiated the proceedings for a personalised ceremony which fitted the day perfectly – complete with fizz for everyone, a finalé cheers as these two walked down the aisle.
Ducks, games, sun, sun, sun
The afternoon was a chilled out relaxed time to make the most of the gorgeous surroundings, chit chat, ping pong, feed the ducks and enjoy the yummy Indian street food canapés :) Some well needed shade and cool with the wedding breakfast in the very cute and quirky cafe, the rustic wedding vibe continuing with it’s amazing decor and block print posters. In true feminist style it was time for Mother of the bride speech (well dad had done Laura’s sister’s wedding so only fair to spread the love!), a joint speech from Laura & Simon and the grand finalé with three best men.
An evening saunter in the low summer sun
With guests demolishing the yummy scrummy ‘bake-off’ style cake table it was time for a stroll around the Roman Lakes taking in the greenery and super rustic vibe of the place. Laura and Simon loved all the aspects of this Marple secret gem, so were keen to make the most of their time together to capture some environmental pics which just happened to have the two them in too.

Roman Lakes, Marple – wedding tea rooms.
A wedding at The Roman Lakes is absolutely everything a wedding should be, a relaxed chilled out vibe surrounded by family, friends and a few ducks :) Seriously though if you’re looking for an outdoor wedding venue close to Manchester then this place should be on your radar. The staff were super friendly, the setting is secluded (not many souls venture down the road to get there!), the tea rooms are super cute and cosy, there’s even space for a marquee or tipi too if you’re having a really big do. They only allow so many wedding per year, so it’s definitely not your run of the mill ‘wedding factory’ feel and well there’s lots of ducks too :)
Oh and don’t forget us – we’d love to see those ducks again and photograph all the best moments of your day as they happen.
