Hotel Gotham Wedding photography – Manchester
So, early pandemic (it’s been going on so long now that I think we can give ‘it’ the early label!) Andy and Anika got in touch with their positive attitude and optimistic outlook for a October 2020 Manchester city centre wedding….well you know the rest of the story. Fast forward three more dates later and a new venue as their original one had closed down, it was now October 2021 and everyone was ready for a good party :) Talking of that new venue, they’d landed on their feet with the very stylish and epic Hotel Gotham.
An Anglo German wedding celebration.
With the groom on local turf, the boys all adorned their finest in the couples trendy Northern Quarter abode, with some amazing views of the city from the roof terrace (and of Andy’s beloved Manchester City Stadium ground.) Then, a walk across Manchester city centre, for pre-ceremony drinks on Albert Square. Anika’s friends and family had to travel little further from German soil, travel they did and joined Anika for her relaxed bridal preparations in the sumptuous Hotel Gotham.
I do’s in the registry office on Lloyd Street sealed the deal, finally Andy and Anika were married. Only a year later than planned which in these times is good going! A new one for us – following the ceremony the German contingent had arranged the ‘cutting of the bedsheet’ – yep everywhere seems to have weird and wonderful wedding traditions. No log cutting at this German wedding tho, I know, maybe Germany has the weirdest traditions yet, eh?
Manchester wedding photography, city centre vibe.
With a late afternoon ceremony and more of a ‘night out’ feel for the rest of the wedding day, then we took a quick wander through some of Manchester’s iconic architecture with the newly weds. Anika’s and Andy both loved the city centre and wanted just a few pics of them in and around Manchester’s stunning buildings (the ones that weren’t covered in scaffolding that is!) With the Manchester box ticked it was now on to the main part of the day, a chilled out night club vibe evening wedding reception at Club Brass, Hotel Gotham.
Hotel Gotham wedding reception.
With two roof terraces and a fantastic modern contemporary stylish feel Club Brass certainly ticks the sophisticated Manchester night time feel. Just mingling with cocktails, taking in the city centre views and cosy dark corners with lots of moody light. Food was served bowl style, not sitting down for ages eating a three course meal, just loads of time to float around and enjoy everyones company. A few wedding traditions were kept to, with speeches and a first dance to get the party going.
An absolutely amazing day, worth waiting for. Fantastic Manchester couple (Anika truly embracing all things Manchester), great friends from both the UK and Germany adding to the cosmopolitan atmosphere.

Thinking of Hotel Gotham for your Manchester wedding reception?
Great choice if you don’t want the usual trappings. Looking for a laid back, cocktail bar vibe then it’s definitely the right place. A stunning Manchester architectural icon, with that moody dark contemporary feel – if those things tickle your fancy then go for it.
At Hotel Gotham they really want to make sure that you get their style and they can offer you the party you’re looking for. Alternative with a touch of class, definitely dark and moody! Amazing accommodation and scrumptious food are obviously a given and being right in the middle of Manchester couldn’t be more convenient for guests to find you.
We loved the friendly staff, quirky touches and laid back approach with bowl food served where ever you were which really kept the celebration going, great for a late afternoon or evening celebration where time is limited.
