Mill Barns Wedding Photography – Shropshire summer wedding

So we’d been looking forward to our first experience of Mill Barns wedding photography for a while having followed their building progress online over a year or so. We met Nicola and Rick a few weeks before their wedding, after an hour or so chatting away we knew this would be a great day filled with their fun personalities – oh and their (Rick’s) pride and joy…his drone :)

New UK wedding venue

So Mill Barns is a new venue in Shropshire completely rebuilt on the site of an old hotel, with a blank canvas these guys have created a stunning modern barn. All done in the very capable hands of the Ensarb Estates who know a thing or two about weddings ;) Amazing architecture, a lot of trees gone in to creating all those beams, lush gardens, a mill pond and modern accommodation on site too. Nicky & Rick had booked off plan when all was just a pile of mud they’d taken a gamble but that had definitely paid off. To ease their minds ‘just in case’ they had the very lovely and smiley Amy from Amaranthyne weddings on hand to make sure all went exactly to plan – which it did!

Personalised wedding day

From ceremony readings of favourite books, Star Wars sci-fi music, to a shared love of 1990’s computer games these two had put their heart, soul and fun filled personalities into each part of the day, which is how it should be. Wherever you hold your wedding it’s the people, smiles and laughter that always shine through the day, not forgetting the aborted drone flights ;) Maybe it was good that Nicola hadn’t let Rick deliver the rings by drone…although we would have loved it!

As the night drew in

More of Nicola and Rick’s character was evident in their very cool two sided cake, classic frontage for all to see but a homage to Star Wars made the reverse of the cake – great for those surprised looks from guests :) First dance was just a little delayed as there was  ‘Glo-stick incident’ for mother of the bride followed by the groom but no lasting damage was done and it was time to let their hair down.

Last but not least these guys really wanted some photos at night time to show off The Mill Barns great features which come to life at night with amazing lighting – and well we like that kinda thing too! So that was that, our end to a truly fantastic wedding day at The Mill Barns, with a brilliant laid back couple :)
