Edale Gathering wedding photography – A Peak District rustic wedding
Great venue, great couple, amazing setting all the boxes ticked – to say we were looking forward to this day would be an understatement :) Tinuviel and Pete had booked an Edale Gathering wedding just as it was starting out, they definitely had an eye for a good thing. The Gathering is set deep in the valley of Edale, in it’s own hidden glen of all that is green, with rustic barns, swanky apartments and top notch glamping safari tents this place is really just perfect for a rustic wedding day.
The day begins with VW journeys over the hills
With six bridesmaids to prep the day began early for the girls, but with plenty of toast and prosecco the early start wasn’t a problem :) The girls had pretty much the whole of the shooting lodge to chill out in whilst getting ready – modern apartment come tent come rustic barn! It was a little wet outside but that didn’t dampen the spirits for the amazing day ahead. Meanwhile Pete was getting ready up stairs in the shooting lodge, albeit a little later than planned, with all his groomsmen waiting all suited, booted and ready to go. Time for the off, journey number one for Lilly the VW camper over the hills to Sheffield.
Sunny Yorkshire for a church wedding ceremony in Dore
Over the Pennines and into Yorkshire where the sun was out (in typical Yorkshire fashion!) Tinuviels’ family church was the setting for the vows to be read and knot to be tied. The boys had plenty of time for a nerve calming pint in the local pub before greeting all their family and friends arriving for the official part of the day. The girls arrived in VW style with Tinuviel and her dad in a classic beetle and the bridesmaids in Lily the trusty campervan on it’s second long haul over the Derbyshire hills. Sunshine, I do’s, hymns & songs (even The Beatles for Baz the singing groomsman to sing along to :) ), congrats, confetti and it was time to head back to Edale Gathering.
Edale Gathering wedding reception
The stage was set for a wedding reception, the very cool horse box bar from Ale on the Bale, Kilner jars full of yummy soft drinks & pimms. Not forgetting Prosecco to add your potion too with a nod to the Harry Potter theme running subtly through the day. Afternoon tea was order of the day in the very funky pointy marquee surrounded by the bleating of sheep. Lord of the Rings was the second theme running through the day, evident in the marquee styling with amazing giant tankards for the groomsmen and an ethereal feel from the suspended willow and eucalyptus chandeliers.
Pics and party
Just time before the party to sneak out for a few pics in the sun with the newly weds. These guys wanted a view and in Edale there’s just one place to go for the best vista, the sun had come out and we made the most of this perfect summers evening – along with a stroll into the woods back at Edale Gathering too. The Gathering seems to have everything spot on for a wedding day. The shooting lodge barn a great space for a good boogie, in the safety of darkness! Meanwhile outside VW number 3 had arrived with the all important fish and chips. We left to marshmallows being toasted on the fire, the smell of fish n chips wafting through the air and many a shape being thrown on the dance floor.
Congrats to Tinuviel and Pete on an absolutely awesome Edale Gathering wedding :)
