Kenwood Hall Wedding Photography – Sheffield

We’d been looking forward to Zoe and Claudia’s wedding for sometime, as it would be our first gay wedding ceremony since same sex marriage became official :)

Good to hear them becoming ‘wife and wife’, as opposed to the more formal ‘civil partners’ as it was before :) Coincidentally Lorraine and Liz who got wed last year, just before the change in the law, converted their civil partnership to marriage just the day before Zoe & Claudia’s wedding day.

Good Yorkshire weather, even in February!

So over the hills to Sheffield we set off in a blizzard of snow! Fortunately the Pennines did their work and the other side blue skies reigned for most of the day. Although February definitely still had its hold on those chilly temperatures. Another first was the venue, Kenwood Hall, situated just a mile from the centre of Sheffield yet surrounded by gardens, mature trees and a small lake too – you wouldn’t guess you were so close to the city centre. With everyone getting ready at the hotel we buzzed between the girls rooms and the reception area to capture the anticipation of the big day ahead.

Plenty of emotion for this all girls wedding.

The tears started early, and that was just from the best woman – a very emotional day for everyone, plenty of Kleenex required! Canapes, confetti, bucks fizz, congratulations flowed, from all their close family and friends, sharing the day with them. A short saunter around the grounds, Claudia definitely warmer for her cosy shrug – always a good idea for winter weddings.

Stars shine and dancing shoes on – to celebrate this same sex wedding into the night

Speeches and formalities all out of the way, a chance to wear their wedding wellies again as the girls were keen to have some night time images….So of course we obliged, as did the sky with a full array of stars!

Congrats to Mrs & Mrs! A fantastic day and one to remember as our first official same sex wedding, here’s to more in the years to come! Our next same sex wedding was the Manchester wedding celebration of our good friends Lee & Jason in late 2015.
