A truly magnificent tipi and yurt wedding, with loads of DIY and personal touches – amazing :)
We visited Schypwll Eco-centre, on the borders of Powys and Shropshire back in the Spring and were somewhat awestruck with it’s rustic-ness, with a capital ‘R’ and had been looking forward to photographing Clare and Ian’s big tipi and yurt wedding day… it finally arrived!
Tents all erected, looking like a fantastic wedding ready to begin
The kata style tipi looked amazing even before all the little details had been added, and the yurt for getting ready was very cosy inside!
All hands were busy putting finishing touches to the day, including Juliet from Thoughtful Flowers – amazing seasonal British flowers, which were just the thing for this rustic wedding. Clare and bridesmaids got ready between the farmhouse and then on to the yurt, which did get a little hot in the stunning September sunshine! The boys threw on their suits in the farmhouse, having just finished preparing the tipi… well done lads!
Humanist outdoor wedding ceremony
Clare and Ian had done all the legal stuff the day before, but this was their ‘real’ wedding day with a perfect outdoor ‘humanist’ ceremony performed by the celebrant. Leaving under a shower of confetti, and taking a few moments alone together as Mr & Mrs whilst walking down Schypwll’s wildlife corridor.
Sunshine, games, fizz a perfect wedding day :)
Pimm’s and canapés in glorious sunshine, badminton and kite flying, exactly as you’d imagine a chilled-out, outdoor tipi and yurt wedding day :) Into the evening out came the balloons and candles to light the field, a definite festival feel – a slightly scary fireworks display, as the first fireworks developed a life of their own… and one very fast moving best man!
Our first venture into light painting photography
As our finalé, we tried out some light painting photography, a first for the Pixies, a request from Clare who’d seen the work of someone who’d done this for years (no pressure then!) This was great fun, especially getting the three best men to run around and waving their arms like maniacs! Very funny and great finalé to a stunning and unique wedding :)
