Summer rain and sun for this classic Lake District wedding at Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel on the shores of Lake Windermere.
Our second visit to the Lake District this year and our first visit for Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel wedding photography, we were excited for the day ahead and had fingers crossed that the rain clouds held off just a little. Laura (the bride not the hotel!) had her heart set on an outdoor drinks reception overlooking the Lake, and really with a view like that you can see why :)
St.Martins church wedding ceremony
So with the boys all looking dapper and having made the short walk down to the hotel, guests arriving, the church filling up and quite strangely the whole of the perimeter of the church grounds surrounded by tourists! It was like a celebrity wedding, so many cameras. Laura arrived in style…almost, as the wedding car broke down just a few yards from the church, so an unscheduled dash across the jam packed road and we were back on plan – if not a little fashionably late! A fantastic ceremony in this quintessentially English church, with a good choice of favourite sing along hymns.
Belsfield Hotel outdoor drinks reception
As the guests climbed the path that winds back up tot he hotel the notes of the amazing sax player Jesus Martin floated down to greet them – sounds quite poetic, well it was! As drinks and canapes were quaffed on the lawn, the view was slowly but surely disappearing under a sheet of approaching rain. So Laura got the best of both worlds to enjoy the view and also the great interiors of the Laura Ashley Belsfield too ;) Time on this wedding day seemed to just melt away, they always go quick but today we were in some sort of black hole! So speeches and food it was, in the stunning dining room which looked absolutely magnificent.
A shower and a sunset
A walk around the gardens, with the added extra of a torrential downpour! So we set the pause button on their bride and groom pics :) Time to party, two amazing dances from Laura, first with her dad and then a well rehearsed dance routine with Mike, set the tone for an epic evening. A short interlude from the proceedings and a break in the weather for a sunset classic Lake District shot or two on the jetties of Lake Windermere just five minute drive down the road. Back to the party, fish and chips, lots more epic dancing, sax playing and celebrations.
Huge congrats Laura and Mike on a jam packed amazing wedding day.
Also thanks to everyone on the day, great to work with such friendly wedding professionals and suppliers – see you all soon
