Relaxed chilled out summer vibes – Doxford Barns wedding photography, Northumberland.
So when your step-brother and his amazing fiancée choose to get married at such a stunning venue as Doxford Barns there’s nothing better to do than take their wedding photos for them :) So we did and well here it is….
A Northumberland wedding weekend
Jess & Tom met at Newcastle Uni so when it came to choosing where to get wed the North East was the unanimous winner. Not exactly the closest to home (London) or family and friends from London, Manchester and Galway, so why not make a weekend of the celebrations. Our favourite wedding are always those where you have the whole weekend to take it all in and a good excuse for us to crack out the tent too for a spot of camping :) As we were around all weekend we had the opportunity to document the anticipation of the day with finishing touches being added on the Friday, drinks and cricket on the gorgeous beach at Low Newton and a family dinner on Friday night. We love these story telling images which encapsulate the full anticipation of the exciting day ahead. Doxford Barns has loads of onsite accommodation with cute farmers cottages and camping pods too, as well as the little campsite where us Pixies stayed too :) Being there the day before we had plenty of time for a good nosey around and a tour of the estate down to the lake and through the gorgeous countryside in this stunning corner of the North East.
Doxford Barns rustic wedding ceremony
Jess & Tom both got ready at the very cute cottages just minutes from the barns, so no rush for those finishing touches…except Tom I think was so nervous that he had to be ready in plenty of time! I think this has to be the most prepared organised groom ever. Tom and Ollie his school friend and best man were ready about two and half hours before the ceremony was due to begin. I suppose a good excuse for a glass or two of the fizzy stuff and well some toast and Marmalade to calm the nerves! Meanwhile Jess and her bridal party were enjoying their pampering and no doubt a bit of fizz too. So the time had come, all their guests filled the absolutely amazing Threshing Barn for their rustic candle lit wedding ceremony to begin, all of Jess’s friends were in tears from the moment she entered the room! Under the oak beams of this ancient barn the words had been said the customary first kiss had sealed the deal and it was now time to party!
Confetti exit to remember
So the top secret surprise (photographers get to know all the secrets first!) was the addition of the amazing Back Chat Brass who filled the celebratory air with funky brass vibes. Jess & Tom exited under a sea of confetti through their adoring crowd! G&T, fizz, connect four, welly wanging, canapé quaffing and congrats time all accompanied by the fantastic tunes of Back Chat Brass. With guests happily entertained just time to sneak off around the farm buildings to make the most of this stunning venue for some Doxford Barns wedding photography moments.
Let the wedding party continue
A relaxed sharing platter and BBQ style wedding breakfast perfectly suited this laid back wedding day with the formalities stripped back, although there was still place for the embarrassing speeches! As the day turned into night (well June in Northumberland doesn’t have too much actual dark night!) the party kicked off in style with a touch of jive action in the first dance, swiftly followed by crazy dance floor scenes which lasted all night. With a huge Irish contingent, The Reels band really got the party going in style, with a mix of contemporary alongside those good old Irish classics :) As the night progressed for a more night club vibe with DJ and sax completing this crazy day of celebrations. There was certainly plenty of dance floor action to snap away at. So eventually the day had tried to get almost dark by about 11pm -ish, just time for some sparkler fun and keeping warm around the fire baskets…just needed a few marshmallows!
Huge congrats to Tom & Jess for a wedding to remember – Sara & Pete x
