A Devonshire Fell Hotel Wedding, in the cute village of Burnsall, a stunning setting in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Ruth was a bridesmaid at Helen and Steve’s wedding last year at The Saddleworth Hotel, always a great compliment to photograph a wedding through recommendation like this :)
Ruth and Vali’s wedding was an international affair (Vali being German and Ruth most definitely a Yorkshire lass) with a lot of the guests having travelled from Germany. Their ceremony took place at what has to be one of the cutest, quintessentially English churches we’ve been to – St Wilfrid’s in Burnsall, North Yorkshire just a few hundred yards from the famous bridge. What a gorgeous little village too, Yorkshire folk are soooo lucky!
The church was very thoughtfully decorated with ribbons and wild flowers well before their ceremony… great sense of anticipation you get from a pre-decorated church with no one around!
Ruth was busy getting ready at the Devonshire Fell hotel, a perfect setting overlooking Burnsall bridge set within a typical picture-postcard Yorkshire Dales valley. The hotel has a young and fresh feel about it yet very country housey too, perfect for small or medium wedding parties.
The ceremony went without a hitch, only the best man bursting into tears, you can’t beat a real old stone church wedding for atmosphere, especially one this cute. Captured some great shots of Ruth and Vali here and got some great shots at the bridge (very popular with wedding couples… or wedding photographers!).
The guests had a brilliant time being entertained by an amazing magician, playing lots of garden games (check out the floating men photo, must have been a strange German custom!), spoilt with great weather, great food (even a hog roast for late evening) and great party to see the night out.
