Gemma and Aaron had chosen a Chester racecourse wedding with good reason, as it was both where they met and where they got engaged, so having their wedding there completed the circle!
We’d met at the racecourse in early April on a gorgeous day, with plenty of blue skies, which perfectly fitted the theme of the racecourse, so we were hoping for a glimmer of blue sky on their day too. With the weather more like winter the day before and even the morning of the wedding we had plan B ready in place for a slightly cloudier wetter day than we had envisioned, but no need as the clouds disappeared and the sun shone all day, it was too bright even for some photos! It was a great time to be at Chester racecourse, as there was a race in three days time so the whole grounds were looking tip top, this even extended inside too as Gemma and Aaron were the first couple to use the County Long Room after it’s new refurbishment.
We started the day at Gemma’s parents house on the Wirral, with wedding preparations in full swing, bunting up, Prosecco flowing and hair and make-up well underway. Gemma was paranoid about being late, her normal time keeping being somewhat to be desired, so on her big day she was determined to be on time and she was! Aaron couldn’t believe it when she said they were all ready about an hour before, we loved it all very relaxed and no mad dash between bridal prep and the venue, thanks Gemma :) At the racecourse boys all looked very classy and dashing in their black tie attire, now just time to wait for the ceremony to begin.
Exiting the ceremony via the stands to awaiting Pimms added to the racecourse vibe followed by hugs and congratulations in the sun with the perfect amount of wind for confetti floating around! Gemma and Aaron had a great bunch of guests from both the Wirral, Essex and Surrey too including lots of small people who really appreciated their hobby horse gifts, although I’m sure it was the dads that really wanted to pretend they were racing around the course!
Aaron was dreading his speech, not being a fan of public speaking, so speeches were before the meal then everyone could enjoy the rest of the evening including the pretty awesome looking Double Decker styled photobooth from Boothtique:) Congrats Gemma & Aaron it really was a fantastic day – all credit to you guys!
